Zombie Apocalypse : GENESIS

Every apocalypse has an onset and the Zombie Apocalypse is no different.  In movies often the question of "How did it all start?" is unanswered or vague.

---------------------What could start the Zombie Apocalypse? --------------

Is it a supernatural occurrence?  Chemical Warfare?  But what can reanimate DEAD bodies?  It would have to be some drug or serum produced somewhere, right?

Or maybe a God is responsible for this event and he is trying to cleanse the Earth (i.e. possibly "The Great Flood" in The Bible where Noah saves two of every animal and his family on the Ark)?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the beginning, though, the amount of time you have to react to this phenomenon depends heavily on your location at the time.  Obviously the farther you are from clusters of population the safer you are in the beginning of the zombie outbreak.  A private acreage far from town is a great starting spot.  So is really any house  separated from towns for about 8-10 miles in each direction.  In a setting like this, a few neighbors is a GOOD thing because they are in the same boat as you (and are most likely still Living).  In some settings, such as a city or borough, neighbors are a BAD thing (because of how fast the "infection" or whatever is reanimating the dead spreads).

No matter what setting you are in though, the first few moves you make will always be the most important.

 1.  Round up your close ones.  Family, friends, co-workers.  If you are, like myself, a father then your first move will be to go secure your family.  If you don't have kids, you may want to go meet up with some friends or neighbors to make a team.

2.  Gather supplies.  You are going to need food, canned food preferably.  And weapons.  If you already own guns you are a step ahead of the game.  If you do not own a single gun, then you better go get some!

 3.  "Should I stay or should I go?"  This question is relative to your own situation.  Is there a safe haven that you should make a mad dash too?  Or is the situation so far out of hand, that you must lock down a local building and defend it.  Personally, my situation dictates that Wal-Mart would be the best and most defensible building.

I think that a Super Wal-Mart is a great spot to hold down because it has food, bullets, clothes, bathrooms, big trucks, roof access.  There are so many pros to it.  The only thing that is difficult will be Taking Control of The Wal-Mart (coming soon!).

These are the first 3 steps that you need to take as soon as you realize you are in the Zombie Apocalypse.  Is there anything you think you would do differently?

Discussion is OPEN.

  1. You forgot a main point for those who don't own guns--If you don't have a Super Wal-Mart in the area, ALWAYS know where the nearest gun store is

  4. Okay, remember how I mentioned that more than one person has already thought of the whole Wal-Mart thing? If there is such a crisis, don't you think hundreds of people are going to flood to the nearest Wal-Mart? If this happens supplies are going to go like wild fire. Food will not last and god knows being in one building with that many idiots is only going to cause more chaos.... so what's the back up plan? (just in case Wal-Mart turns out to be a bad idea)

  5. i have a good yet semi job setting i work at a vaccine place so most likely that would be a target for the infection cause the high school is right by it but i do know where the gun range is a mile down the road :)

  6. GMar...just stay tuned for my upcoming post in regards to taking total control of the situation.

Sife, a vaccine lab could be a good place to hold up, or (due to its scientific nature) a good Ground Zero for the epidemic! YIKES!

  7. Lovely blog, I am glad to see someone putting time and energy into such an intriguing situation as a Zombie Apocalypse. Just some questions I would like to ask. When you say hold down in Wal-mart you are not considering trying to go to a place where everyone knows there is food and other usable items. It is the end of the world, don't you think people are going to be carrying weapons all ready? Besides that, why travel to a place that will have the highest concentrate of the surrounding area's population? Also how are people going to travel to the super center? Just some questions.

  8. Zombiepicdemic...these questions are very legitimate and will be addressed in a post soon to come regarding "Controlling the Situation".

To tide you over, I will give you a few responses that I will later detail in a blog post.

First let me preface this by saying, all this is relative to your own situation.

To take a Wal-Mart (or other super center of similar business) is the best option in RURAL settings and some SUBURBAN settings. It is best to avoid cities totally due to the high population.

Also, how long you stay there depends heavily on the circumstances once you get there. If you cannot take control of the store, you cannot stay there long at all. If you can take control of it, it would still behoove you to acknowledge the possibility that you will not be able to maintain control for an extended period of time.

As far as traveling goes, the answer is : By any means necessary.

If you follow my blog, this post will be coming up in the next few days. I don't want to give too much out as a comment!

But thanks for the thought provoking comments from everybody! Keep them coming!
